Description: 374 CONS requests information from industry on ways to privatize telephone service at three (3) Naval installations in Japan, Yokosuka, Ikego and Negishi. Currently the U.S. Navy, located in Yokosuka, runs and maintains a telephone switch and residual inside/outside cable plant to provide nonofficial telephone services for residents in Yokosuka, Ikego and Negishi, in addition to official telephone services for shore commands on Yokosuka, Ikego and Negishi. Request industry review the current operations and make a proposal on how industry would provide these services.
