Description
NA The U.S. Army Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC) is conducting a market investigation to identify possible sources of a lightweight visual/infrared obscuration system for application on the Future Combat System (FCS). The Operational Requirements Document for the Future Combat Systems (FCS), dated 25 Nov 02, indicates that the FCS must be capable of deploying multi-spectral obscurants and counter measures to defeat enemy acquisition systems and screen friendly actions. Two systems will be purchas ed for a Government conducted test and evaluation program. One system will be mounted on a High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle by the Government and subjected to a road test over cross-country terrain. In addition, a side-by-side obscuration test will be conducted against the U.S. Army M56 Smoke Generating System. The other system will not be mounted on a HMMWV. It will be subjected to hot/cold operational tests in a chamber and hot/cold laboratory vibration tests. The vendor will supply technic al support during this integration and test phase. A key requirement of the proposed visual/IR obscurant system is that it weighs less than 470 lbs. It is anticipated that the integration effort will take four months and the test effort will take four mo nths. The system selected must already be in production to allow for the above integration/test effort as detailed above. This market survey is for information purposes only; this is not a Request for Quotations. No solicitation document exists. All in terested firms, regardless of size, are encouraged to respond to this request for information. Responses may be sent via email to john.jagde@us.army.mil.
