- NA Description: The Individual Protection Directorate, at the Soldier and Biological Chemical Command, Natick, MA is conducting a market investigation to identify domestic suppliers and manufacturers of antimicrobial technologies for use in textile clothing materials. Th e antimicrobial treatment/product must be proven commercial off-the-self product that meets the following requirements: ? EPA registration number and/or FDA approval. ? Durability to a minimum of 50 preferably 100 industrial washings when tested in accordance with AATCC 96, VIc or AATCC 61 3A. ? Does not alter the fiber/fabric properties of the substrate. ? Can be added to the fabric or garment via pad/exhaustion method. ? Demonstrates efficacy by 5-7 log10 reduction in CFU when evaluated using AATCC 100. Initially and after washings. ? Is effective to a broad spectrum of both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms; specifically Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Proteus sp., Proteus vulgaris, Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Tricophyton mentagrophytes, Aspergillus niger, Streptococcus aureus and pneumoniae, etc. ? Does not pose infrared reflectance signature problem. ? Does not cause electromagnetic interference (EMI) problem ? Ability to inhibit human foul odors in clothing items. ? Does not adversely affect the flammability properties of the textile item. ? Demonstrate Minimum Inhibitory Concentration for products. Interested firms are requested to submit information on their product(s) within thirty (30) days following publication of this synopsis. Interested sources shall include information detailing firm's experience, personnel and facilities. Other additional information should include, but not limit too, product cost, technical information, material safety data sheets, certification/compliance, warranty terms, relevant company background/experience, ISO 9000 certification, and any other information that the co mpany believes demonstrates the value of their product(s) and ability to meet the requirements. Companies are also encouraged to submit samples for evaluation. Any information/samples submitted will not be returned and no payment will be made by the Gove rnment for such samples.
