- This SYNOPSIS is applicable to Sources Sought Synopsis (SSS) NMEDL00303107 issued for RADIAC SETS on 21 Mar 03 and closed on 1 Apr 03. The 311 HSW/YAPS, 7980 Lindbergh Landing, Brooks City-Base, TX 78235-5119, intends to negotiate a sole source, firm-fixed price contract, 13 ea., RADIAC SETS, NSN: 6665-01-320-4712, P/N 702453. Authority: FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). Applicable to Multiple Aircraft. This is a commercial acquisition. No drawing package. CLIN 0001 is for a quantity of 13 ea. Delivery to: FB2065 and FM9133. Inspection and Acceptance at Destination. Predominant Material: Electronic Parts housed in a metal and plastic case. Size/Dimensions: Main survey meter: 1.88 inches H X 4.38 inches W X 8.5 inches L. Weight: approx. 3 lbs. Form, Fit and Function: Multi-function radiation detector with light weight main survey meter and external plug in probes. Through the use of both on board and external probes, unit can detect alpha, beta, gamma and X-ray radiation. Unit has both self-test and auto-ranging capabilities. The item is coded 3Z, which means it is procured from Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) as a commercial off the shelf item. Recommended source: The OEM, Canberra Industries, Inc. (24114), 800 Research Parkway, Meriden, CT 06450-7127, formerly known as Nuclear Research Corp. (96696), Warrington, PA. All potential offerors should contact the buyer identified in this notice for additional information and/or to communicate concerns, if any, concerning this acquisition. If the contracting officer does not satisfy concerns, an Ombudsman has been appointed to hear concerns from offerors or potential offerors during the proposal development phase of an acquisition. The Ombudsman does not diminish the authority of the program director or contracting officer, but communicates contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and recommendations to the appropriate government personnel. When requested, the Ombudsman shall maintain strict confidentially as to the source of the concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the evaluation of proposals or in the source selection process.
