- This is a notice RE: pending Standing Quote for the period date of award through April 19, 2004. Item for bid will be... NSN: 7290-00-262-6657 HANGER, COAT: Shall be in accordance with the following characteristics: Construction. The coat hanger shall be constructed of wood and shall consist of two (2) shoulder side pieces, a trouser rod, and a suspension hook. The side pieces shall have a permanent flush or dovetail type joint. The trouser bar shall be permanently affixed to prevent both rotational and horizontal movement to prevent roll-off of the trousers. Material. The wood hangers shall be manufactured from red alder, beech, birch, cherry, maple walnut or oak. The wood shall be dried to a moisture content not to exceed 12 percent. The hangers shall be smoothly sanded and shall be free of knots, splits, splinters, sharp edges, holes or other defects that may affect appearance or serviceability. Finish. Sealer, wax or varnish type finish. Suspension hook. The swivel design suspension hook shall have a minimum overall length of 2.4 inches (6.10 cm), and shall be minimum 11-gauge steel. The hook shall be centered between the two shoulder sidepieces. The hook may go through the hanger and be headed, or be annular threaded at the bottom, or terminate within the junction of the shoulder pieces. The hook shall fit completely over a 1-1/2 inch (3.81 cm) diameter bar without binding. The upper end of the hook may be plain or looped back at the option of the manufacturer. Size. The hanger shall have a minimum width of 16-1/2 inches (41.9 cm). The Unit of Issue is ? EA (each). Workmanship. Hangers shall be free from any sharp edges, projections, and other defects that could snag or tear garments. Surfaces shall be free from flaws, cracked or peeling paint, and other defects that could impair appearance or serviceability as specified herein. PRODUCT CONFORMANCE: The products provided shall meet the salient characteristics of this Item Purchase Description, conform to the producer's own drawings, specifications, standards, and quality assurance practices, and be the same product offered for sale in the commercial market. The Government reserves the right to require proof of such conformance. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: The item(s) shall be packaged and packed in accordance with the latest revision of ASTM D 3951, Standard Practice for Commercial Packaging. Shipments to the Department of Defense (DOD) shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129. PALLETIZATION: The shipping containers shall be palletized. The pallets shall be 48-inch length x 40-inch width, general purpose, four-way entry, flush stringer, double face non-reversible pallets. The palletized load shall not exceed 2500 pounds in weight. The palletized load shall not overhang the pallet and shall not exceed 53 inches in overall height. Less than half pallet loads or loads shipped by small package carrier need not be palletized. NOTICE: All lumber used inside or outside a shipment shall be BARK FREE. UNITIZATION OF PALLET LOAD: The palletized load shall be unitized and secured to the pallet to insure that the load arrives intact. NOTICE OF SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR SHIPMENT TO EUROPEAN UNION COUNTRIES: Per Clause D-FSS-468, non-manufactured wood pallets and other non-manufactured wood package material used in shipments destined for ultimate delivery to or through a European Union (EU) country shall comply with the Emergency Measures (2001/219/EC) adopted by the Commission of the European Communities (CEC). Additionally, shipments delivered to DoD distribution facilities or freight consolidation points for eventual delivery to or through EU countries shall comply with DLA PROCLTR 01-15.
