Description
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Marine Operations Center-Atlantic, Norfolk, Virginia has a requirement for Licensed Marine Engineers. Provide approximately 2.5 work years of labor during a one year period. Laborers are to be USCG licensed Marine Engineers to support the operation and maintenance of NOAA Ships. The Marine Engineers will be used to backfill for NOAA employees absent from the ship and to fulfill critical staffing requirements in order to meet shipboard safe manning levels. NOAA operates a fleet of 15 ships worldwide and may require as many as 5 engineers at any one time for shipboard assignments. Engineers must be certified drug free and meet USCG approved medical standards. Navy T-AGOS Class Vessel experience is desirable. All required travel and transportation will be arranged by the contractor and paid for by NOAA. The Government will attempt to provide a weeks notice of ship and location. Due to ships schedules this will not always be possible. Contractor is to provide watch standing engineers with licenses to qualify for assignments on NOAA Ships as First Assistant Engineer, Second Assistant Engineer and Third Assistant Engineer. On all NOAA Ships, except the RONALD H. BROWN, which requires First, Second, and Third Assistant Engineers with unlimited licenses, licenses required are: Chief Engineer-Limited Near Coastal, Assistant Engineer-Limited and Third Assistant Engineer-Unlimited. Period of performance is June 1, 2003 thru May 31, 2004, with an option for 3 additional years. The FSC for this is L020 and the NAICS Code is 541990, small business size standard is $6.0 million.
