- NA GENERAL: The Army Targets Management Office, will host a FOURTH Industry Day Forum on 13 ?15 May 2003 at Huntsville, AL. The purpose of the forum is to provide interested parties and potential offerors information and an opportunity to provide feedback on the prop osed NGATS performance requirements. Specifically, this fourth forum will focus on focus group discussions of the Army's NGATS Specification and Interface Control Documents (ICDs). All firms who produce target hardware, battlefield effects simulator, tar get control systems, target scoring systems, live fire ranges, or have experience in integration, test, and installation of similar distributed component systems are encouraged to attend this forum. The Specification and ICDs are available for review by c ontacting Thomas H Burleson / (256)842-0383 / thomas.burlesonjr@us.army.mil. All persons who will attend the industry day are strongly urged to read and form comments on the specification and ICDs before the meeting. Persons and companies are encouraged to submit written questions and comments before the meetings. This will allow the government to provide responses during the meetings. THE PURPOSE OF THIS FORUM IS TO DISCUSS THE CONTENTS OF THESE DOCUMENTS. THERE WILL NOT BE A BRIEFING BY THE GOVERNME NT TO EXPLAIN THESE DOCUMENTS. Comments provided to this forum and incorporated into the ICDs or Specification will be published as official use only information with the ICDs and Specification. BACKGROUND: The Army Targets Management Office intends to develop a New Generation Army Target System to replace existing target systems on live fire ranges. This NGATS target system will be made up of families of targetry components that are interchangeable and prov ide the required performance at a low life cycle cost. Compatible NGATS components will be deployed on Army training ranges in a sequential or blocked program where each block represents increases in performance, reductions in life cycle cost, or both. Th e NGATS program is scheduled to begin fielding ranges in late FY06 with a Block I NGATS system. The schedule for fielding Block II and subsequent blocks will be set at a later date. REGISTRATION: Reservations must be received by noon on Friday 9May03 in order that we may make arrangements with the security for entrance to the meetings. LOCATION: The Industry Day will be held at the CSC Inc facilities on the South Parkway here in Huntsville. Maps to the entrance and to the meeting will be provided via email for registered participants and parking is available adjacent to the buildings. AGENDA: A detailed agenda will be provided by email to registered participants. DAY ONE: Sign in will begin at 13:00 hrs. Beginning at 14:00 hrs, the afternoon will be filled with presentations by the government and support contractors describing the NGATS and the Army?s acquisition plans. This session is designed to inform visitor s who are new to NGATS, and will be a repeat of material briefed at prior industry days DAY TWO: Sign in will begin at 09:00 hrs, and activities will begin at 09:30. This day will consist of sub meetings of focus groups discussing details of the Specification and ICDs. There will be a facilitator at each focus group. Frank discussion and criticism of any technical weaknesses will be appreciated. DAY THREE: Sign in will begin at 09:00 hrs, and activities will begin at 09:30.. This day will finish the meetings of the focus groups during the morning session and a government overview of significant comments immediately after lunch. The Focus groups are: Moving Presentation (MIT/MAT); Battlefield Effects Simulation; Stationary Presentations; Weapons effects Measurement (scoring); Representations (silhouettes/thermalization); Command and Control. POST INDUSTRY DAY: The Government will publish a CDROM containing all briefings presented at this Industry Day and a summary of the technical discussions. This will be available to all registered participants. The source of questions, statements and comm ents that are published will be identified as either government or industry but will not be attributed to a particular participant. Proprietary information provided to the government and identified as proprietary will be protected. INFORMATION SECURITY: The classification for all briefings and discussions will be 'UNCLASSIFIED'.
