The MultiMode AFM system shall include the following: (1) Shall include MMAFMLN Multimode AFM. (a) Shall provide all major Scanning Probe Microscopy (SPM) techniques, including contact and non-contact atomic force, lateral force and TappingMode microscopy. (b) Shall perform magnetic force and electric force microscopy without additional hardware. Shall provide and AFM optical head compatible with on-axis optical viewing of tip placement on the sample. (c) Shall include a 45x monocular microscope plus illuminator with laser safety filter. (d) Shall provide a XY sample stage with 2 mm x 2 mm range, which will accommodate samples up to 15 mm diameter and 6 mm thick. (e) Shall include probe handling tools and sample pucks, 20 silicon nitride Probes (Model NP-20) and 10 TappingMode silicon probes (Model RTESP). (2) Shall include NS4-01 NanoScope IV SPM control station. (a) Shall provide for topographical scanning in air and fluids. (b) Shall include high-speed DSP and SPM-computer interface electronics, 6 analog-to-digital converters, and high-speed serial interface for Windows NT-based SPM imaging software, including comprehensive image analysis. (c) Shall provide 32-bit dual monitor color display video with total resolution of 2048x768 pixels. (d) Shall include 1.7 GHz Pentium 4 PCI computer with twin 18-inch LCD monitors, 41 GB hard drive, 256 MB RAM, 1.44 MB floppy drive, CD R/W, 100 MB Zip Drive, network board and all NanoScope SPM imaging and analysis software. (e) Shall include 10 micro-actuated probes and one MMAFM fast scanning cantilever holder. (3) Shall provide a fully motorized AS-12V 10 mm AFM scanner with vertical engage, providing XY range of 10 mm x 10 mm with 2.5 mm vertical range. (4) Shall provide a MTFML glass cantilever holder for fluid operation in contact mode, TappingMode, and force modulation. (a) Shall include 10 oxide-sharpened silicon nitride probes (Model NP-S) for soft sample analysis. (5) Shall provide MMFHTR-2 air and fluid sample heater with sensor and fluid cell, providing in-situ temperature control up to 50 EC. (a) Shall include scanner top heater element, heater controller, controller temperature readout, micro-thermocouple and readout for sample temperature, head spacer, and fluid cell. (6) Shall include MMHTRS high temperature heater for in-situ temperature control to 250 50 EC. (a) Shall include 125 x 125 mm scanner configured with heating and sensing units and scanner cooling. (b) Shall include electronic controller with readout and high temperature cantilever holder with heating element for TappingMode operation. (7) Shall provide a MMAHCC atmospheric hood cylinder cap for controlled atmosphere environment for MultiMode SPM. (8) Shall provide a MMAHC-201 atmospheric hood cylinder for AS-12V scanner.
