Description

NA The Army Northern Region Contracting Center at Fort Eustis, Virginia is planning to extend contract DABT60-97-D-0001, FFP, services with Sprint Communication Company, LP for providing Video Teletraining equipment and communication services to over 250 Vide o Teletraining Network (TNET) sites and communication services worldwide for the Army Distributed Learning System classrooms and the Army Classroom XXI Program. The extension will be for a one-year base period (1 Nov 03 - 30 Oct 04) with a one-year option . The extension is required for the continuation of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) communication service which should take approximately 1-2 years to complete the transition. This extension is necessary due to the critical nature of continuity of operations. The Army cannot experience any down time associated with transition to a new vendor. Additionally, the Army cannot afford the cost of parallel operations during any transition. DISA will be providing all long-haul communication services in the future. A follow-on Award Term contract will be offered competitively for equipment/commo service after the transition. Sprint is now providing high quality compressed video (384 kbps typical); still-frame graphics (multiplexed on video carrier and timeshared with motion video); high quality, digitized audio (32kbps, multiplexed on video carrier and timeshared with motion video); (KU-band VSAT) OCONUS and CONUS satellite links; multipoint interactive network; fully-bridged separate audio; broadcast m ultipoint video (dynamic selection, any site to all sites); internet protocol over frame relay; network control/hub services for Defense Information Switched Network (DISN) for Distributed Learning System (DLS) facilities, commercially provided lines, sate llite links (CONUS and OCONUS), and video teletraining equipment.
