Description
2400 Rolls of CCN Labels for Defense Distribution Depot San Joaquin CA (DDJC), Tracy, CA in accordance with the following statement of work: STATEMENT OF WORK CARTON CONTROL NUMBER (CCN) LABELS DEFENSE DISTRIBUTION DEPOT SAN JOAQUIN April 23, 2003 1. Paper: Label shall be standard white paper. There is no requirement for a special top coat, since labels that cause excessive sheen are not accurately read by a barcode scanner. 2. Adhesive: Label adhesive shall be bend and peel type with commercial adhesive able to withstand dust and rough cartons. Label liners are peeled off by hand. Labels will be used to track internal routing of cartons within distribution warehouses, and will no longer be needed once the load is picked up by the carrier. Once peeled, labels will have an operational life of approximately two weeks, but unused labels on liners may be retained in storage for several months. 3. Environmental Conditions: Labels are exposed to cold and hot temperatures experienced inside warehouse facilities located in the Northern California Central Valley (Stockton area). Labels will not be exposed to caustic fumes. 4. Size and Configuration: Sample drawings are available upon request. Label size shall be 3 inches by 5 inches. Label barcode shall be printed, left to right, across the 5 inch side of the label. Distance between each label on the roll shall be approximately 1/8 inch. Label liner shall extend beyond 5 inch side on both sides and shall represent the edge of the roll. Label corners can be squared or rounded. 5. Roll: Label roll shall contain 1,000 labels. Label roll shall contain a hollow fiberboard center core of 1/8 inch thickness and hollow space of 3 inches. The label roll is installed on a horizontal metal bar or core clamp, and the operator pulls the sheet of labels down, with the labels facing the operator on the outside facing of the roll. 6. Printing Requirements: Each label shall contain the acronym “CCN”. Each label shall contain a barcode, black ink, linear, low density imprinted 3 of 9 spacing, 30 mil narrow bar printed in a 2.5 to 1 ratio. Barcode width from first to last line shall be less than 3 inches in length. Control numbers shall be printed in both horizontal and vertical configurations on each label. 7. Scanning: Barcode readers, utilized by the Government to scan labels, include the following equipment: handheld Intermec 1545, handheld Intermec 1550, and an overhead Metrologic Holotrack 158500. 8. Control Numbers: Control numbers shall contain seven alphanumeric characters. The first digit shall be restricted to vowels, and the remaining digits shall be alphanumeric consonants and numbers (no vowels). The sequential order for each consecutive control number shall be equivalent to a 31 number system, using alphanumeric digits ranging from B through Z, and 0 through 9 inclusive. For example, the control number ABDF43G is followed by ABDF43H, then ABDF43J. The control number UR8PGL8 is followed by UR8PGL9, then UR8PGMB. The Government will provide the control numbers. Control numbers are unique and cannot be printed more than once. Control numbers, provided by the Government, are grouped into star-end pairs of 50,000 numbers. There is no special reason for this grouping, since the Government is not able to systematically generate a single start-end pair for 2,400,000 control numbers. 9. Delivery Requirement: Contractor shall deliver 400,000 labels per month. This equates to 400 rolls at 1,000 labels per roll for six months. Contractor shall deliver a test roll prior to Notice to Proceed. 10. Samples and Numbering Sequences: Available upon request from Linda Klinedinst, Contract Specialist, by fax at 717-770-5689 or by email at Linda.klinedinst@dla.mil.
