Description
Requirement for contractor to provide expertise and labor toward the evaluation of potential and existing bat use in six abandoned mines on the Kenai Peninsula. Work will involve two site visits to each mine, internal surveys of each mine for evidence of bat activity and deployment of temperature and humidity monitoring gear, and evaluation of data collected and production of a summary report. Experience: A competitive contractor shall have extensive experience in safely conducting internal surveys of abandoned mines to evaluate potential use by roosting bats. Competitive contractors must provide a principal investigator and survey personnel who have completed at least a 1000 internal abandoned mine bat surveys while in the service of state and or federal agencies. A competitive contractor shall have demonstrated experience, either published research or documentation from prior contract work, in deploying remote temperature and humidity loggers in abandoned mine workings in order to develop a thermographic characterization of internal workings throughout an entire calendar year. A competitive contractor shall assign a principal investigator with demonstrated experience in evaluating internal structures of mines for their potential value as habitat to roosting bats. Such experience will be evidenced by published research regarding evaluation of bat use of mines, documented training in bat habitat evaluation, or prior contract work. Training and Certifications: A competitive contractor shall be able to demonstrate current certification of all survey personnel in the following: MSHA Mine Safety Training (surface and underground, 40 Hour Health and Safety Training), HAZMAT, and CPR. Education: A competitive contractor will need to assign a principal investigator with at least a Bachelor?s degree in biological science, wildlife management, or similar to conduct surveys, analysis, and reporting of results. This investigator must have completed course work in sample design, biological data analysis, and zoology. Response: Sumbit summary of qualifications or resume to 907-743-9492.
