- Description
- The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has a requirement for 1080 Loran-C Mark II Microsondes (Sippican Part Number 1543-611) to be delivered F.O.B. Destination to the National Logistics Support Center in Kansas City, Missouri commencing in July 2003. Because this radiosonde now will be built with a chip thermistor, NOAA also requires an upgrade to the W-9000 ground system software, installation and checkout of the software at the Charleston, South Carolina upper-air site, and training in the use of the changed software. NOAA intends to negotiate this requirement on a sole source basis with Sippican, Inc. (Sippican), located in Marion, Massachusetts. Sippican is the sole manufacturer of the Loran-C Mark II Microsonde and the W-9000 ground system and is the only known source that can provide the required supplies and services. This acquisition will be accomplished using simplified acquisition procedures. Request for Quotation (RFQ) No. WG9220-3-00117 will be issued on or about May 12, 2003 and will close on or about May 22, 2003. NOAA expects award to be made not later than May 30, 2003. Although NOAA expects that only Sippican can provide the required supplies and services, all responsible sources may submit a quotation which will be considered by NOAA. See Note 26.
