Description
This notice is for a Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)/Health Resources and Services Administration(HRSA) requirement for medical and health care related services. The requirement will be competed pursuant to the law, the Public Health Services Act(PHSA), Title VII Health Professions Education, Part C, Sections 747- Training in Family Medicine, General Internal Medicine, General Pediatrics, Physician Assistants, General Dentistry, and Pediatric Dentistry, and 748- Advisory Committee on Training in Primary Care Medicine and Dentistry. Therefore, the competition for this requirement is limited by statute, the PHSA, to public or non-profit hospitals, schools of medicine or osteopathic medicine, or to public or private non-profit entities. The HRSA seeks to assure the availability of quality health care to low income, uninsured, isolated, vulnerable and special needs populations, to meet their unique health care needs. The HRSA addresses these needs through the administration of programs in the areas of primary care medical and dental professional training that increase the educational development of the nation?s current and future medical and dental students to ensure a highly qualified health professions workforce for the 21st century. Specifically, this contract will improve and expand the educational curriculum for the medical and dental professionals of tomorrow in five important areas: 1) diversity; 2) ethnogeriatric; 3) leadership ; 4) expansion of medical and dental student exposure to Community Health Centers; and 5) widening the pipeline of future medical and dental professionals. The period of performance is planned to be a base year with four one(1)year option periods. A justification for other than full and open competition (JOFOC) is on file.
