- Description
- NASA is investigating electrically-propelled aircraft. The goal is to use fuel cells to provide propulsive and secondary power in 21st Century aircraft. NASA Glenn Research Center is building test facilities to support these investigations. The aircraft systems will also be apt for launch vehicle applications. POWER TEST FACILITY: NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Proposal (RFP)] for the design, build and test of a fuel-cell powered 500kW electric power distrubution system Test Facility at GRC. The system will include electric actuators for flight controls systems and electronic motors for propulsion. Distribution systems are expected to be from 300 to 600 volts. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 541330 and $23mM, respectively. All responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFP is on or about May 7, 2003 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about June 15, 2003. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application. It is the offeror's responsibility to monitor the Internet site for the release of the solicitation and amendments (if any).
