Description
The National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) has a requirement for an all solid-state laser source at 532 nm that is suitable for optical frequency measurements and nonlinear mixing with other single frequency sources. The single-frequency output radiation at 532 nm will be used in an optical frequency synthesis system that requires sum- and difference-frequency mixing with other spectrally pure sources (e.g. stable 657 nm diode laser radiation). The 532 nm laser output will also be frequency-doubled to 266 nm in an external power-enhancement cavity using the nonlinear crystal BBO for use in spectroscopic investigations.***** The output power level at 532 nm must be 10 W or greater. The laser must operate in both a single transverse mode and a single longitudinal mode. More specifically, the laser must deliver non-mode-hop, single-longitudinal-mode output, ie, line width must be under 5MHz. Systems based on a multi-axial design are not acceptable. The mode must be Gaussian (M2 less than OR EQUAL TO 1.1). The power stability is to be no worse than plus/minus 1% over 2 hours after a 15 minute warm-up, and the amplitude noise must be less than 0.04% from 10 Hz - 1 GHz. The output polarization is to be linear (>100:1). The beam waist should be approximately of 2.25 mm.***** All optical elements of the laser must be permanently fixed, aligned and sealed in the optical cavity for long-term ease of use and reliability. Adjustable optic mounts of any kind are unacceptable. Furthermore, re-adjustment of laser optics must not be required if the pump laser is moved or repositioned. A delivery time of less than 7 weeks ARO is required. It is the intent of the Government to award this procurement on a sole source basis under authority of 41 U.S.C.253(c)(1) with Coherent Laser Group of Denver, CO. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (NTE $100,000). This synopsis is issued for information only. No competitive solicitation is planned. No award will be made on the basis of requests in response to this notice. Terms & Conditions and agency level protest procedures can be found on web site http://oamweb.osec.doc.gov/conops/#REFERENCE. Information submitted in response to this notice will be used solely to determine whether or not use of competitive procedures to fulfill this requirement would be in the Government's best interest and must address qualifications pertinent to this requirement. These are the complete specifications and no RFQ is available. All technical questions shall be addressed to Scott Diddams of NIST at 303 497-7459. This RFQ will expire May 15, 2003.
