- Description
- The National Institutes of Health, Intramural Research Program (IRP) of the National Institute on Aging (NIA) will support a 4 year and 5 month extension for a clinical research study entitled "Road to Success: Indicators and Agents of Exceptionally Healthy Aging in the Ninth Decade" (RD2Success). RD2Success is an extension of the original study entitled "Health, Aging, and Body Composition" (Health ABC) which is currently being done by the following three contractors: 1)The Regents of the University of California, San Francisco, Coordinating Unit (Contract No. N01-AG-6-2106), 2) University of Pittsburgh, Field Center (Contract No. N01-AG-6-2101), and 3) University of Tennessee , Field Center (Contract No. N01-AG-6-2103). The primary objective of RD2Success is to gain a better understanding of both the indicators and agents of healthy aging and high level function in old age by following participants in the current Health ABC study another 4 years and 5 months. This scientific research service is for the Coordinating Unit and available from only one responsible source, i.e., The University of California, San Francisco. The work under the remaining two contracts will be advertized under a separate FedBizOpps announcement. The period of performance for RD2Success is planned to begin on February 1, 2004 and end on June 30, 2008. The statutory authority for this action is 41 U.S.C. 253(c) 1 as set forth in FAR 6.302-1(a)(2). This is NOT a Request for Proposal. If, however, there are any responsible sources who feel they possess the abilities which would enable them to perform this project, they may submit a proposal which will be considered by NIH.
