Description
NA The M3 Electric Air Heater, NSN: 4240-00-807-6856, P/N MILH51191, shall be constructed per the Scope of Work and Performance Specification MIL-PRF-51191. The M3 Electric Air Heater is a device used to warm air flowing through it that has been filtered of chemical and/or biological agents. At a minimum air flow of 4.5 cubic feet per minute (CFM) and an inlet temperature of 0 degrees F, the heater will provide air at the outlet that is a minimum of 120 degrees F within 15 minutes after turning on the heate r. Inlet air of ?45 degrees F must be warmed to 70 degrees F within 15 minutes after heater startup. The heater must not have any electromagnetic emissions that interfere with the performance of other systems installed in the vehicle. Heater surface tem perature will not exceed 126 degrees F. Heaters will be provided with controls that allow adjustment of output airflow temperature. The control will be detachable from the body of the heater and capable of being installed in a separate location. The max imum length of the heater (distance between the ends of the inlet and outlet ports) will be 7.32 inches, and the maximum height will be 5.95 inches. Heaters will be compatible with interfacing parts as described in the performance specification. They wil l provide the required heated air after experiencing extreme conditions of temperature, humidity, mechanical shock, vibration, and salt fog exposure. It is anticipated this will be a best value procurement. Award of a five year long term requirements type contract is anticipated. Contractors are requested to submit a one page description of their firm and its capabilities to Bob Roberts, FAX 309 782 4 997 , Email robertsc@ria.army.mil by 9 May 2003.
