Description
NA The project provides a protective beach with a dune and a terminal groin to reduce the potential storm damage at Lewes Beach, DE. More specifically, the project will consist of constructing a 25-foot wide berm at an elevation of +8.0 feet NAVD, and a dune with a top elevation of +14.0 feet NAVD and a crest width of 25 feet. The total project width of the berm and dune, including side slopes, is 100 feet. Also included in the Beachfill portion of the work will be installation of dune fencing, dune grass planting, and placement of 174,000 cubic yards of beachfill. Dredged material from Roosevelt Inlet and an additional offshore borrow area just east of the inlet will be used for the Beachfill. The project will also include the construction of a terminal groin on the western end of Lewes Beach, 550 feet long with an additional 160-foot taper to tie in with the existing revetment. The groin shall be parallel to and shall extend into the bay an equal distance as the terminal groin on the opposite side of t he inlet. The groin shall have a top elevation of +5.1 feet NAVD, bottom elevation of ??????6.0 feet NAVD, a top width of 12 feet, and side slopes of 2H: 1V. The groin will be constructed beginning in the fall of 2003. An environmental restriction on dr edging will require that the Beachfill start in September 2004.The Invitation For Bid Number (IFB) DACW61-03-B-0013 will be available on the Internet Web pages on or about 16 June 2003. Hard copies will not be available. No written or fax requests will b e accepted. Contractors shall download this IFB (including drawings) and all amendments from the Internet web page at the following address https://ebs.nap.usace.army.mil on or after the issue date of the IFB. The official media of distribution for the I FB is the Internet Web Page. All amendments to this IFB will be posted to the Internet web page at the above address. Hard copies will not be furnished. It is the contractor??????s responsibility to monitor the web page for any amendments. Interested c ontractors must register on the Internet Web page. If any of the contractor??????s information changes during the advertisement period, contractors are responsible to make changes to their user profile on the Internet Web Page. Failure to make changes in their user profile may cause for delay in receiving notification of the IFB and Amendments. Contractors are responsible for printing copies of the IFB and any amendments. Proposals will be due on or about 16 July 2003. NAICS code is 237990 with a size standard of $17.0. Bonding is required. If your bid guarantee is in the form of a bid bond, the bond must be properly signed by both the bidder and surety (BONDING DOCUMENTS INCLUDING POWER OF ATTORNEY SHOULD BEAR AN ORIGINAL SIGNATURE BY AN OFFICER OF TH E SURETY) and all required seals must be affixed. All contractors are required to be registered in the DOD??????s Central Contract Register before award as required by DFARS 204.7300.
