Description
59 - The United States Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) has an immediate requirement for a JITC certified small, lightweight, high power amplifier / low noise pre- amplifier (HPA/LNA) for use with the AN/PSC-5D multi-band 30-512 MHz radio. Initial quantity of 80 each will include an additional 4-year ordering period for future requirements unknown at this time. The contractor shall provide Integrated Logistical Support (spare parts) for a total eight (8) years from expiration of the standard commercial warranty period. The Government intends to purchase these Amplifiers using Sole Source procedures. The Request For Proposal is USZA22-03-R-0030 and will be issued o/a 14 May 2003. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is 334220 with a small business size standard of 750 employees. The amplifier will be installed onto various maritime combatant craft platforms in a very space-limited location. Given the various conditions in which these platforms must operate, e.g., rough-seas, extended communications and operating ranges, the required amplifier characteristics and capabilities include: input power 22- 32 Volts DC, 100 Watt power output, Low Noise Figure (LNF) of less than 2 dB, size cannot exceed 3.5"(H) x 6.25"(W) x 12.25" (L) dimensionally to meet the rigid installation requirements on select combatant craft, weight no more than 10 pounds and must be able to withstand the harsh environments associated with operating on the open seas. JITC certification for use with the AN/PSC-5D in accordance with MIL-STD-188-181B, 182A and 183 is required. Based on a preliminary Market Investigation it appears that the only source that can satisfy this requirement is the Turtle Mountain Communications, Inc., TMC POS-TF100 Remote Amplifier/Pre-Amplifier. See numbered note 22. Questions from industry should be directed to the attention of Marc A. Duval at duvalm@socom.mil, (813)821-0560 ext 304.
