Description
MARKET SURVEY TO DETERMINE AVAILABILITY of AGING EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE SUPPORT The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Aviation System Standards, Resou= rce Management Staff, AVN-27. This market survey is a request for expressi= ons of availability of equipment and is not a solicitation and a contract a= ward is not applicable to this notice. This market survey is for planning = purposes only and shall not be construed as a request for proposal or as an= obligation on the part of the government to acquire the hardware or servic= es. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will not pay for any direct = or indirect costs or charges incurred by any firm as a result of their subm= ission of a response to this survey and the FAA=E2=80=99s use of such infor= mation. The FAA's intent for this market survey is to determine if there e= xist equipment that is identical/similar to the original equipment configur= ations listed below that can be used to maintain the current equipment conf= iguration with replacement parts, internal components, or operational units= in sufficient quantities to provide a supply source for maintaining the cu= rrent equipment for an additional 5-years. Second, if a vendor has the ha= rdware, are you interested in providing system maintance support for up to = a 5-year period. The FAA is in the process of determining a maintenance su= pport strategy for the FAA=E2=80=99s current Automated Instrument Approach = Procedure System (IAPA). This system was originally purchased in 1992. Th= e survey request information from contractors with the ability to provide b= oth hardware, workstations, equipment, necessary to provide maintenance sup= port, replacement parts, and site maintenance for the existing IAPA systems= to include system software, the system hardware, network, and technical su= pport where required. The system software will only run on the current lis= t of hardware (much of this equipment is obsolete). There are four physical units on the RAID con= taining 5 disk drives each. Failure rates of the boxes and which components make up these failures by n= umbers over the last year for the period May 1, 2002 to May 9, 2003.
