Description
This announcement constitutes a Sources Sought Synopsis. The following information is provided to assist the Naval Air Systems Command in conducting a Market Survey of Industry to determine potential interested sources who have the skills, experience, qualifications and knowledge required to successfully develop a practice bomb rack for carriage of practice bombs and light weight ordnance for current and future Naval and Marine aircraft. The practice bomb rack shall be lightweight, with a high reliability rate of .998 and require low maintenance. A non-pyrotechnic power source is preferred, to eliminate the use of Cartridge Actuated Devices (CADS) and associated maintenance. The practice bomb rack stores are expected to be carried by various aircraft at speeds up to 630 KCAS/1.3M at load factors of ?3.0 to +7.5G unless otherwise limited by the stores. Stores are expected to be released at speeds up to 630 MCAS at load factors of +0.5 to +5.3G unless otherwise limited by the stores. The practice bomb rack shall be capable of providing the following loadouts of practice bombs on a single unit: Mk 76/106 practice bomb (qty 6) BDU-33/48 practice bomb (qty 6) BDU 57/58 Laser Guided Training Round(LGTR)(qty 2) Mk-58 Marine Markers (qty 2) LUU 2 Para Flares (qty 2) The practice bomb rack shall have a single connection for MIL-STD-1760 interface along with the standard analog connection giving the unit the ability to be used as a guide for the bomb rack performance, design and test. The Government does not intend to contract on the basis of this request or otherwise pay for the information solicited. The Government plans to hold an industry day at Naval Air Systems Command, Headquarters, Patuxent River, MD at a time still to be determined; however, at the time it is held draft documents will be available for review. Any company that would like to be added to the source list for this requirement should express their interest by e-mail to: Linda Tom?, tomeli@navair.navy.mil no later than 30 May 2003. Please include a company pamphlet, brochure, or short statement of the company?s ability/history with this type of effort, the name and telephone number of a company representative that can be contacted, and the company?s address.
