- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate with X-ray Instrumentation Associates for a quantity of four (4) Camac-based 4 Channel 40 MHz Digital X-ray Spectrometers. The X-ray Instrumentation Associates' Camac-based 4 Channel 40 MHz Digital X-ray Spectrometers and support hardware/software are widely used at the NIST National Synchrotron Light Source where NIST operates the x-ray beamline data acquisition system along with many other outside research laboratories. The NIST x-ray beamline data acquisition system is Camac-based and operates using Labview control. X-ray Instrumentation Associates' Camac-based 4 Channel 40 MHz Digital X-ray Spectrometer is the only Camac-based digital x-ray spectrometer which is available commercially and operates under Labview control. In additional, the spectrometer is the only spectrometer available with a throughput at 40 MHz which NIST requires. The compatibility of the X-ray Instrumentation Associates' 40 MHz digital X-ray Spectrometer and support hardware/software with the existing X-ray Instrumentation Associates' spectrometers is essential for sharing with the outside research laboratories and for reducing downtime because the NIST beamline facility operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The delivery time for this requirement is 10-12 weeks after receipt of order and the delivery shall be FOB Destination to Gaithersburg, Maryland. The Government anticipates awarding a firm-fixed price purchase order utilizing Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit quotes by June 4, 2003. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotes. A Request for Quotation (RFQ) package is not available. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334516 with a small business size standard of 500 employees. A determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Contracting Officer. For information, call the POC identified above.
