Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Bruker Biospin Corporation, of Billerica, Massachusetts for one new 600 MHz 19F/ 1H Dual 5 mm probe, to be used as a drop in replacement for the existing AVANCE 600 MHz Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) instrument previously purchased from Bruker Biospin. ***Sole Source determination is based on the need for the new 600 MHz 19F/1H Dual probe to have complete compatibility with the existing AVANCE 600 MHz NMR magnet and console. It must be a drop-in replacement that can be mounted on the magnet. Additionally, the replacement probe must interface with the electronic and software controls, specifically, the radio-frequency electronics, Bruker Biospin GRASP gradient system, and the variable temperature controls of the AVANCE 600 NMR console. Bruker Biospin Corporation is the only known vendor who can provide a replacement probe that will meet the drop-in replacement and interface requirements while maintaining absolute compatibility with the existing equipment. ***Delivery shall be FOB Destination, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 60 days after receipt of order. ***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516, and the size standard is 500 employees. ***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by June 6, 2003. A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
