Description
Intent for Sole Source: The Supervisor of Shipbuilding Conversion & Repair, USN (SUPSHIP), has a requirement for repairs to the ships service turbine generator Right Angle Drive (RAD ), Part Number 759J040, used onboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and USS NIMITZ CLASS Nuclear powered U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers. This requirement is being issued by GovWorks under the franchise authority of the Department of the Interior (DOI) on behalf of SUPSHIP and in accordance with FAR 13.5, Test Program for Certain Commercial Items. OEM technical repair services are required to meet the Government's minimum requirements to support overhaul /repairs to the ships service turbine generator RAD. Northrop Grumman is the OEM for the turbine generator Right Angle Drive (RAD ), Part Number 759J040, used onboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and USS NIMITZ CLASS Nuclear powered U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers. Northrop Grumman possesses proprietary technical specifications, drawings and technical expertise required to accomplish required to repair/overhaul work to restore the Right Angle Drive (RAD), Part Number 759J040, proper operating condition. Proper operation of the Right Angle Drive (RAD) cannot be guaranteed if work is accomplished by a contractor other than the OEM. The Right Angle Drive (RAD) is a vital component part of the ships service turbine generators installed onboard the USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN-73) and USS NIMITZ CLASS Nuclear powered U.S. Navy Aircraft Carriers. The OEM is the only contractor authorized by NAVSEA 08 to perform repairs to the ships service turbine generator and its component parts. The period of performance for this effort shall be from the date of award through September 30, 2003. The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with Northrop Grumman Marine Logistic Support for the supplies and services in accordance with FAR 6.302-1. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities or submit proposals via email to both Mary.Coleman@mms.Gov and Terrie.Callahan@mms.gov. This is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received within 5 working days after the date of publication of this synopsis. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
