- Description
- The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Environmental Technology Laboratory (ETL) proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis a contract under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) with Dow Key Microwave Corporation, 4822 McGrath Street, Ventura, CA 93003 for sixty (60) high power switches, Model # HPVR200-F-004. NOAA/ETL is providing the Air Force with 449 MHz radar wind profiler (RWP) systems for use at the U.S. Air Force's Tethered Aerostat Radar System (TARS) sites over the next five years. Under a Memoradum of Understanding (MOU) between ETL and the Air Force, ETL will continue integration and installation of identical new RWP's at other aerostat sites. It is essential that the systems be compatible with a previous prototype system. Maintainability, data quality, repeatability and system and data interfaces are all necessary factors to ensure the success of this on-going project. The required specifications for the high power switches include 350 watt average power handling capability, greater than 15 dB isolation, maximum of 0.1 dB insertion loss, 7/16 DIN type long neck female connector and a vacuum relay activated, rated for 5 million switching cycles. This procurement is being conducted per FAR Part 13, Simplified Acquisition Procedures (under $100,000). FAR Clauses in full text are at http://www.ARNET.gov/far/ . This synopsis is issued for information purposes only. No competitive solicitation is planned.
