Description
NA Shop fabricate, deliver, and install 3 each vertical barrier screens (VBS) at the McNary Dam powerhouse intake structure. Each VBS is approximately 60 ft tall by 19 ft wide by 1 ft depth. All VBS are structural steel frame with stainless steel perforate d plate panel inserts. Perforated plates panels are approximately 2.5 ft by 4.5 ft in size. Approximately 80 perforated plate panels in each VBS. Two VBS will have no moving parts and will have stainless steel wedge wire bar screen panel inserts in add ition to the perforated plates. Bar screens will be horizontal configuration on one VBS and vertical configuration on the other VBS. Wedge wires are to be looped around support bars, all non-welded construction, then fitted into a stainless steel frame. The third VBS will be a traveling screen and will be fitted with two traveling belts. Traveling belt consists of roller drive chains with a plastic mesh screen. Drive assembly consists of electric motors, gear reducers, drive shafts and sprockets. Modi fications to the powerhouse intake deck will be necessary to install the traveling VBS. Concrete cutting with diamond wire saw will be required to cut and remove a 3 ft thick section of the intake deck concrete slab. Cut will be 4 ft by 20 ft by 4 ft. M iscellaneous metalwork fabrication of handrailing and a support beam will be required. Contractor to furnish a crane to unload the VBS and install them into the slots. All work to be completed by February 15, 2004. Solicitation No. DACW68-03-B-0014 will be available for bidders on or about June 23, 2003. Bid opening will occur no sooner than 30 days after the solicitation is issued. Site visit information will be included in the solicitation.
