- Description
- Modify description by adding correct Agency, so it reads as: The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (DHHS), through the Program Support Center, intends to negotiate a sole-source award with Duke University Medical Center, Durham NC. Purpose: CERTs is an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) program whose mission is to conduct research and provide education that will advance the best use of therapeutics (drugs, medical devices, and biological products). The evaluation of medical devices poses challenges that are different from those encountered in the evaluation of drugs. In the evaluation of diagnostic imaging technologies many added complexities are raised. A two-day Conference is needed to develop a research agenda for the CERTs that will extend their current focus to two areas of special interest to the Medicare program: evaluation of medical devices and the evaluation of diagnostic imaging technologies. These two areas account for large portions of new medical innovations as well as large portions of the current and future health care budget. This workshop would bring together a select group of experts knowledgeable about a particular topic from a variety of perspectives (such as academia, consumer, government, health care practitioner, medical products industry) to answer important questions related to the study and use of medical devices. The goal of the proposed conference is to develop specific short and long term research agendas in these areas that can form the basis for initial work of one or more CERTS. THE PROPOSED SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION ACTION IS FOR SUPPLIES OR SERVICES FOR WHICH THE GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO SOLICIT AND NEGOTIATE WITH ONLY ONE SOURCE UNDER AUTHORITY OF FAR 6.302. INTERESTED PERSONS MAY IDENTIFY THEIR INTEREST AND CAPABILITY TO RESPOND TO THE REQUIREMENT OR SUBMIT PROPOSALS WITHIN 7 DAYS AFTER THE DATE OF PUBLICATION OF THIS NOTICE. A DETERMINATION BY THE GOVERNMENT NOT TO COMPETE THIS PROPOSED SIMPLIFIED ACQUISITION BASED UPON RESPONSES TO THIS NOTICE IS SOLELY WITHIN THE DISCRETION OF THE GOVERNMENT. INFORMATION RECEIVED WILL NORMALLY BE CONSIDERED SOLELY FOR THE PURPOSE OF DETERMINING WHETHER TO CONDUCT A COMPETITIVE PROCUREMENT.
