Description
The United States Coast Guard (USC) Research & Development Center (R&DC) intends to negotiate and award a sole-source, cost-reimbursement contract to the University of Maine for continued development, demonstration, and evaluation of composite wood members for applications at Coast Guard shore facilities in compliance with The Department of Transportation and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2003. Under the contract, the University of Maine's Advanced Engineered Wood Composites Center (AEWCC) will design and build a complete timber and composite member pedestrian access pier at the USCG Station in Jonesport, Maine. In addition, the contractor will conduct additional wood composite retaining wall research and conduct remaining research, development and manufacture to design and install a prototype retaining wall. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 531710 and the size standard is 500 employees. Interested parties may identify their interest and capabilities in response to this requirement to the above address. The determination by the Government not to compete the proposed contract based upon response to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct future competitive procurement(s). This notice is for informational purposes for Minority, Women-Owned and Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (BDEs): The Department of Transportation (DOT) Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization (OSDBU), has a program to assist minority, women-owned and disadvantaged business enterprises to acquire short term working capital assistance for transportation related contracts. Loans are available under the DOT Short Term Lending Program (STLP) at prime interest rate to provide accounts receivable financing. The maximum line of credit is $500,00.00.
