Description
1.1. Introduction The United States Postal Service (USPS) seeks to implement a comprehensive outsourced copying and finishing shop solution that reduces costs, increases efficiencies and improves customer service. Current work processes within USPS headquarters dictate that hard copy business documents be hand delivered to our in-house print shop. These documents are then duplicated using four fully depreciated printers: two analog copiers, one non-networked copier, and one non-networked color copier. In the past several years, print shop copy volumes and usage has decreased primarily due to the proliferation of floor copiers as well as the large number of color and black and white desktop printers used throughout headquarters building. 1.2. Purpose and Strategy The USPS seeks to pre-qualify suppliers who can propose and execute a virtual and/or near-site/on-site copying and finishing shop solution that leverages the supplier?s ample capacity, state of the art equipment and appropriate operations coverage. USPS headquarters users should ultimately receive service that exceeds the current levels provided on-site. This solution should also alleviate the USPS burden of extraneous production equipment to maintain or replace as it becomes obsolete. It should provide business process improvements such just-in-time document production; enhanced service offerings, digital technology, internet linkage, and elimination of maverick reprographic spend.
