- Description
- Revision 2: Please note a change to the point of contact information. All other information remains the same. Revision 1: This announcement is extended for 30 days. All other information remains the same. This announcement is an advance notice to industry that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is currently working on a buy for data display systems. In order to provide industry with appropriate documents for future proposal submittals, the FAA plans to release to industry a draft requirements document and statement of work to solicit comments and recommendations from industry. The FAA plans to release this request for comments and recommendations within the next 30-90 days. This announcement is intended to alert you to watch for this FAA draft for industry comments. Industry is encouraged to monitor the FAA Contracts Opportunity web page for the release of these draft documents. This is an advanced notice only. If you are not already signed up for the notice of change to the FAA Contracts Opportunity web page, you are encouraged to do so. For those of you who are not familiar with the FAA data display systems planned buy, as set out in our market survey of 9/02, below is a synopsis of the requirements. The FAA Data Display System (FAADDS) is proposed as the FAAs next generation data display system. FAADDS will provide rapid retrieval and display of a wide range of weather, operational support, and administrative data to air traffic controllers in Air Traffic Control Towers (ATCTs) and Terminal Radar Approach Controls (TRACONS), as well as in other FAA and non-FAA facilities. Information will be displayed in formats and with contents designed for rapid operator understanding and assimilation with minimum human interaction. The system will interface with a large number of FAA systems to receive information for display. Information displayed will be identical in content and format to the source document or display. The system will be comprised of workstations networked together in local area networks (LANs) and wide area networks (WANs) to provide shared information management and display. The system will be scalable in order to meet the information display needs of the full spectrum of facilities from very large to small terminal areas. The system will be comprised of commercial off-the shelf (COTS) and non-developmental item (NDI) hardware and software to facilitate configuration control, maintenance, training, and system upgrade by Government personnel. The Government intends to procure data rights necessary for itself or third parties to maintain and enhance the software.
