Description
This announcement serves as a notice of intent to organize a 4 weeks study Tour in the USA (Washington DC Metropolitan area preferred) which will focus on the improvement of “Basic Education School Management”. This tailored study tour will be provided to twenty(20) Guinean education professionals. The objectives of this training will be focused on the participants’ ability to increase their own skills in areas relevant to Guinea’s Educational reform, to reflect on current practices, compare these practices with methods used in American models, and decide how these practices can be adapted and implemented in Guinea. The main themes to be covered during the course of the training workshop include but are not limited to: Decentralization (financial and administrative), Role of the private sector in education, Role of parents and other stakeholders in the decision-making processes, Financing of public education in the US, Equity in education resources and quality between wealthy and poor communities, Relevant themes such as learner-centered instruction, gender equity, student assessment, and the impact of HIV/AIDS on the education system. It is expected that the contractor will incorporate various teaching and training techniques, such as classroom instruction, field visits, hands-on experiences, and group work. Contractor shall provide logistical and administrative arrangements for this training. Tentative period of performance is mid June or mid September 2003. The solicitation number is 675-03-08 and will be issued as a Request for Proposals (RFP) on or about April 30, 2003. The RFP can be obtained by emailing the persons listed under “Point of Contact”.
