- Description
- The Maritime Administration intends to award a sole source purchase order to Eric Green Associates, Inc. to perform research work and publish findings on Ship Structure Committee Project 1436, Labor-Saving Passive Fire Protection Systems for Aluminum and Composite Construction. The objective of this procurement is to identify and qualify spray applied fire protection systems for aluminum and composite construction and develop and design methodology to satisfy U.S. and international regulations. Deck and bulkhead panels will be constructed and spray-coated. Intermediate scale tests will be done to ensure that systems can be qualified in accordance with Resolutions A.754(18) for fire restrictive divisions and MSC.40(64) for fire resisting materials of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) that are described in the International Code for Application of Fire Test Procedures (FTP Code) [1]. Successful testing will make available passive fire protection (PFP) systems and design methodology that will eliminate the need for costly qualification testing and drastically reduce labor costs for construction of high performance commercial and naval vessels, as well as yachts. The contractor will also chair a Structural Fire Protection session at the proposed Ship Structure Committee High Speed Vessel (HSV) Symposium to occur in conjunction with ASNE?s HSV December 2003 Workshop in the Washington, DC area. All firms who possess the knowledge and are capable of performing the described work are encouraged to submit capabilities statements and price quotations at the designated address by 2:00 p.m. eastern standard time on Wednesday, July 2, 2003. Award will be made to the company that offers the best value to the government.
