Description

The US Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research in Wapato, WA has a requirement for an image DNA, RNA and protein blots with chemiluminesence, Our laboratory cannot use radioisotopes, our researcher uses green and red fluorescent proteins (the genes which then cause the organism to produce these proteins), allows for imaging of organisms expressing these proteins, quantitate the amount of the protein expressed. Both the chemiluminescence and the flourescent protein imaging requires a special camera that is cooled (called CCD) needed to quantitate the amount of DNA (or RNA) in a gel. The system calculates the molecular weight and the amount (down to femptograms) of these macromolecules in the gel. Our lab does not have fluorescence nucleic acid densitometer and our spectrophotometer is not sensitive enough, this system would serve that purpose. Our lab does not have a darkroom at the laboratory, therefore, most 'routine' imaging using x-ray film, is not available. The only known system which can perform the above is the FluorChem IS 8900 from Alpha Innotech with accessories, gray scale thermal printer, reflective epi-uv lights, four rolls of glossy paper, Alphaeasy FC stand lone software. A solicitation is not available for this requirement, interested firms are encouraged to submit proposals to the attention of Fred Gifford as listed in this notice. See numbered note 22.
