Description

Solicitation N00421-03-T-0182 is issued as a request for quote (RFQ). This action is not set aside for small business. The Government intends to purchase on a firm fixed price basis and to solicit and negotiate the proposed purchase order on a sole source basis with Boston Whaler, Inc., 4121 South US Highway One, Edgewater, FL 32141-7221 for the part numbers listed below, under the authority of FAR Part 6.302-1. Boston Whaler, Inc. is the only known manufacturer capable of providing and integrating these items during construction of the Guardian Boat. Additional riverine boats are being procured and must be identical to the Boston Whaler 25-foot Guardian boats currently in operation to ensure that the boats are identical and completely compatible with the existing riverine craft. Since the items are required as part of the Guardian boat, it is necessary that they be integrated at the time the boat is manufactured. Boston Whaler is the only known manufacturer capable of providing and integrating these items during construction of the Guardian Boat. The items requested are critical elements necessary to complete the Guardian Boat and ensure requirements of strength and accessibility of equipment are maintained on the new riverine craft. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit proposals. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, the Government will consider all proposals received by 14 July 2003. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. The Government will not pay for any information received.
