Description
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) Columbia River Fisheries Program Office, desires to purchase a Fish Tagging unit and injector that go with the Northwest Marine Technology decimal coded wire tags. The FWS is needing one (4) automatic tagging unit and one (1) tagging injector. The Mark IV automatic tag injector handles millions of cycles of tag injections. The tags some in continuous wire form on a spool, are automatically cut off, magnetized and injected through a hollow needle. The operator then verifies that the specimen contains a magnetic tag by dropping the specimen through a Quality Control device where it flows through a tag detection tunnel. The injector is about 18 pounds in wieght, 10 inches wide, 10 inches high and 12 inches deep. The injector is easily programmed from the keyboard and can mark 600 to 800 fish per hour. The injector can be used with either a head mold or a needle support tube. The decimal coded wire tags consist of stainless steel wire (1mm x 0.25mm) etched with numbers to allow identifications of batches or individuals of fish. For further information, please contact Elida Monroe at 503-231-2052.
