Description

4 KELVIN CLOSED CYCLE REFRIGERATOR SYSTEM The solicitation number is F33601-03-T-0167. The proposed contract is for a commodity for which the government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1) and FAR 6.302-1(a)(2) (ii). The proposed source is Janis Research Company, Inc., Wilmington, MA. The government anticipates a sole source award to Janis Research for the following reason: The Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), Wright- Patterson AFB, OH, must have the SRKD-415DW Closed Cycle Refrigerator System from Janis Research Company as it is the only 4 Kelvin system which is dimensionally compatible to AFIT Physics Department+s’existing equipment, in concert with being able to achieve 4 Kelvin cold finger temperatures. The Government knows of no other manufacturers that make or sell 4 Kelvin Closed Cycle Refrigerator Systems that have the same unique combination. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, all quotations received within fifteen (15) days of the issuance of this notice will be considered by the government. A determination by the government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Any quotations should be faxed to Helen Williams, 88 ABW/PKSB, 937-257-3926, or e-mailed to Helen.Williams@wpafb.af.mil no later than 17 Jul 03.
