Description
NA U.S. Army Joint Munitions Command, ATTN: AMSJM-CCA-M, Bldg 350, 6th Floor, Pole E-10, Rock Island, IL 61299-6000. DUE: 23 Jul 2003. POC: Contract Specialist, Gail Thompson (309) 782-5158; Procuring Contracting Officer, Mary S. Adams (309) 782-4841; Te chnical, Don Seers (309) 782-5342. DESCRIPTION: The purpose of this Sources Sought/Market Research is to identify potential sources capable of manufacturing the Inert Parts Assembly for the M280 Warhead, HAWK Missile, consisting of a molded inner body, a molded safe and arming housing, pressed metal cup, cut metal fragments, impregnate/filler and a woven/sewn out body. The completed assembly is 15.85 inches long and has a maximum diameter of 13.38 inches. The total weight of this assembly is 81 pounds a fter being primed and painted with chemical agent resistant coating (CARC) paint. The Inert Parts Assembly is shipped in pairs in a dual wood crate except the one assembly in an odd number lot is shipped in a single wood crate. The booster cup, booster c over, booster cushion and 2 loading covers are shipped unassembled with these assemblies. (Note that the wood crates are reused to ship the final warheads once they are loaded with the high explosive). A respondent to this market survey should have available the facilities and skills required to manufacture the Inert Parts Assembly for the HAWK including but not limited to: Design and manufacture matched die tooling for shaping both metal sheets and synthetic molding compounds; Utilize heated die tooling to press mode thermosetting, glass-fiber-filled, phenolic resin compounds into parts that meet the required dimensions; Post-cure ovens for reducing mold time is optional; Utilize die tooling to cold stamp the aft warhead cup from steel sheets; Formulate and mix various adhesive compounds; Orientate parts and apply adhesive compounds to make assembled parts; Cut steel bars into various size metal fragments; Lay-up and bond metal fragments to the inner warhead body and fill all voids with the filler and Apply CARC primer and top coat. Interested firms who feel they are capable of manufacturing the Inert Parts Assembly for M280 HAWK Warhead are invited to indicate their interest by providing the Government a brief summary of their company??????s capabilities, including a brief descriptio n of equipment, facilities, personnel and past manufacturing experience as it relates to the above criteria. This a market survey for planning purposes only and shall not be construed as a Request for Proposal or as an obligation on the part of the Government. The Government does not intend to award a contract based on this ma rket survey or otherwise pay for information solicited. The information you provide will only be used by JMC in developing its acquisition approach for further requirements.
