- Description
- The Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) intends to issue a solicitation for the purchase of 50% Sodium Hydroxide Solution, BEP Stock No.'s 2A000580 (bulk) and 2A00580A (drums), for use as an ingredient in water base alkaline wiping solution for currency and postage printing presses. The sodium hydroxide shall be manufactured in accordance with the specification: C: SHS-1G, dated October 28, 2002. This acquisition is a 100% Small Business Set-Aside procurement; the NAICS code is 325181 and size standard is 1000 employees. It is noted that a nonmanufacturer rule class waiver is in effect for this material. The Government anticipates awarding a Fixed Price, Requirements Contract resulting from this solicitation. The period of performance is for one twelve month (1) base year and four (4) twelve month option years. Order quantities will be approximately 90% in bulk and 10% in 55-gallon drums. Estimated quantities for the base year and each of the four option years will be 228,275 gallons total combining bulk and drums. Deliveries of bulk shipment shall be FOB Destination to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing (BEP) 15th Street, S.W., Washington, D.C. 20228. Deliveries of drum shipments shall be FOB Destination to BEP, Landover Warehouse Facility 3201 Pennsy Drive, Landover, Maryland 20875. Procedures set forth in the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Parts 12 and 15. The source selection decision will be based upon overall best value to the BEP: price and non-price factors considered. Material samples will be required from the apparent successful offeror prior to award. The solicitation will be available on or about February 2003. A thirty (30) day response time is planned. Contract award is planned for August 1, 2003. The BEP is posting this announcement, as well as the final solicitation on GSA's Federal Business Opportunities (FedBizOpps) Internet site at: http://www.eps.gov. Interested offeror are encouraged to register for FedBizOpps electronic notification for issuance of the final solicitation, amendments and/or changes to this notice.
