- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP), Division of Cancer Prevention and Control (DCPC), contemplates issuing a cost reimbursement type contract to replicate and disseminate a health care provider intervention designed to strengthen the skills of health care providers to better encourage lesbian participation in breast and cervical cancer screening services. Specifically, the objectives of this contract will be to: (1) increase awareness in Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (BCCEDP) with respect to lesbian issues and screening disparities noted in literature; (2) provide training to CDC/NCCDPHP/DCPC Project Officers so that they can provide technical assistance to programs in addressing lesbian disparities; and (3) provide training and technical assistance to Professional Education Coordinators and Program Directors in regional workshops. The successful offeror will conduct six (6) Training of Trainers workshops throughout the country for a total of 140 BCCEDP Program Directors and Professional Educators. The Training of Trainers will prepare trainers from various backgrounds and cultures (including tribes and territories) to train healthcare providers in an interactive, experiential adult learning environment. Thus the successful offeror must have experience in conducting training nationally. In addition, the successful offeror will be required to provide an existing professional education curriculum dealing with increasing access to health care for lesbians, as well as an existing Training of Trainers curriculum along with all handouts and audio-visual materials. The successful offeror should have: (1) at least 4 years of experience with conducting Training of Trainers on a national level; (2) experience with training health care providers; and (3) experience in providing adult education and technical assistance on health topics. The contemplated period of performance is 24 months. The approximate release date of the RFP on the FedBizOpps Website (http://www.fedbizopps.gov) is on or about July 28, 2003. The RFP due date will be approximately 30 days after posting of the RFP. The NAICS Code for this requirement is 611699, and the size standard is $6 million.
