The Contractor shall provide the following tasks: (1) Estimate the potential exposure of Atlantic salmon from Dennys River to environmental contaminants; (2) Develop an assay for brook trout CYP1A mRNA in anticipation that brook trout samples will be collected as a surrogate indicate for Atlantic salmon exposure to contaminants; (3) Develop a molecular marker for exposure of Atlantic salmon to Velpar. In order for this research to be successful, it is essential that the information be gathered through non-lethal sampling. The proposed effort is a continuation of a previous study effort conducted by Michigan State wherein innovative non-lethal methodology and techniques were developed and implemented with successful results.
