- Description
- NA INTRODUCTION The Fusion Symposium is the result of a series of events focused on gaining an understanding of Objective Force fusion requirements. The initial efforts were the Sensor Fusion and Operator Workload Map Exercises (MAPEX) conducted at Fort Huachuca in Febru ary 2003. The intent of these MAPEXs was to evaluate a set of Essential Elements of Analysis (EEA) established to meet TRADOC experimentation goals supporting Future Combat System Milestone B decisions. In the analysis of the MAPEX data a determination wa s made that some of the EEA were not sufficiently explored, especially in the areas the fusion technologies. The decision was additional analysis was needed and that the best way to accomplish that analysis was to host a technology workshop. The Fusion T echnology Workshop was held in May 03 to address noted analytical shortfalls noted in the MAPEXs. The three-day workshop focused on the technology and knowledge challenges facing fusion in the Objective Force. One of the outcomes of the workshop was the suggestion that Fort Huachuca sponsor a symposium inviting government and industry to lay out their solutions to the fusion challenges noted in the workshop. That symposium will take place 20-22 August 2003 at Fort Huachuca. BRIEFING AGENDA 1. We are soliciting papers and presentations for the Sensor Fusion Technology Symposium. We will receive papers and requests until 25 July 2003. Please submit a 250-word unclassified abstract to explain how your effort addresses Sensor Fusion architect ures, applications, and interfaces. 2. The Sensor Fusion Technology Symposium is being organized to provide a forum for information exchange between the government, academia, and industrial research communities. To achieve this we are assembling a group of professionals in the same room to let them discuss candidly Sensor Fusion architectures, applications, and interfaces. 3. Spanning three days, the Sensor Fusion Technology Symposium will focus on the vital issues facing Sensor Fusion, Sensor Fusion technologies, and Sensor Fusion solutions. Topics will include briefings from Science and Technology Objectives (STO), Advan ce Concept Technology Demonstration (ACTD), Battle Labs, National Labs, and research industries. 4. SPEAKING REQUIREMENTS. The focus of the three days is as follows: STOs, ATCD, Battle Labs, and National Labs- Briefs will cover Sensor Fusion efforts from the individual lab??????s perceptive. Submit briefings using Quad charts. LSI- A closed brief to the government and SETA to discuss the LSI??????s effort in Sensor Fusion architectures, applications, and interfaces. Industries- Briefs will cover the industrial research communities?????? effort in Sensor Fusion architectures, applications, and interfaces. The topics are to give ideas and directions to potential speakers. Because of the unique nature of this conference, there is an emphasis in ensuring the briefs focus on the implementation of Sensor Fusion. Times will vary amongst the briefs. STOs, ACTDs, Battle Labs, and National Labs will brief for 15 minutes each during Day 1. Day 2 is reserved for the LSI to brief selected personnel. Industries will brief for no more than 50 minutes each during Day 3. 5. PRESENTATION RESOURCES Current tools made available to speakers include 1 projector, 1 computer (connected to projector), 2 wireless lapel microphones, and 4 handheld wireless microphones. Please forward any additional resource questions to ian.micah.sweany@us.army.mil. 6. BRIEFING REQUIREMENTS Briefings must comply with the attached UA Battle vignette. Briefings must comply with fielded and projected systems performance; Tactics, techniques, and Procedures (TTPs); and have a joint context. Briefs will not exceed the SECRET classification. Als o, any who are interested in participating in this symposium should request a copy of the MAPEX data thorough the aforementione d e-mail address. 7. SELECTION CRITERIA We will review briefs throughout the submission deadline through a panel of military personnel. We will contact potential speakers if there are any questions about their presentation. Briefs that are more technical or reveal new issues in Sensor Fusion are of more interest than a review of what Sensor Fusion is. Briefs that are more technical or reveal new issues will receive more consideration. Those selected to brief must have their final brief submit NLT 8 August 2003. We are not allowed to add you to the agenda if your briefing materiel does not comply with our briefing requirements. We are not allowed to add you to the agenda if we do not r eceive your briefing by 5:00 p.m. (Arizona) on 8 August 2003. 8. PROPRIETIES. All non-government personnel that attend the Sensor Fusion Technology Symposium will sign a letter of non-disclosure before being allowed into proprietary briefs. Non-SETA contractors will not be allowed into the Symposium during th e morning of Day 2. Some government and SETA personnel may also be denied during DAY 2. Corporations are responsible and will properly mark the proprietary data included in their briefings. Corporations are encouraged to bring their own non-disclosure a greements for discussions with other corporations and contractors. Those corporations selected to brief will submit a copy of their non-disclosure agreement to us NLT 8 August 2003 for legal review. 9. REMUNERATION. Speakers will not receive funding or reimbursement for airfare, rental vehicle, hotel cost, meals, or speaking. Speakers are responsible for funding their own attendance to the Sensor Fusion Technology Symposium. 10. LOCATION INFORMATION. The Sensor Fusion Technology Symposium will occur 20, 21, 22 August 2003 at Fort Huachuca, Arizona. We will email welcome/information packages NLT 11 August 2003. 11.
