Description
This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. Reference ?Internet Filter? when responding to this announcement. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors capable of providing an Internet Analysis and Content Filtering solution that would prevent unauthorized Internet activity. The desired solution must be a self-contained network appliance with centralized reporting capabilities and automated Universal Resource Locator (URL) library updates. The required monitoring product will be installed inside SSA?s perimeter firewall at the National Computer Center in Baltimore, Maryland. The Agency is seeking sources that meet the following requirements: 1) Appliance must operate, without any restrictions to functionality, with Top Layer?s ?IDS Load Balancer?, 2) Network appliance must operate in promiscuous mode (i.e. passive/sniffer mode), 3) Vendor provided hardware and software must come pre-hardened for security vulnerabilities at both the hardware level and database level, 4) URL library updates must be distributed in an automated process, 5) Quality control processes performed by the vendor must be documented. This process must detail the review process the vendor performs to insure accurate categorization of URLs, 6) Filtering software must have the ability to block unauthorized sites by URL, Internet Protocol (IP), keyword, and user , 7) Additional functions to allow the addition of custom categories of URLs , 8) The ability to implement a safe list overriding vendor provided URLs must be allowed , 9) All URL listings within the URL library must be viewable and editable by an administrator, 10) Logging and reporting of unauthorized activity is required, 11) Preconfigured reports and the ability to customize reports must be available, 12) Reporting of logged activity must detail URLs and allow for correlation of the unauthorized requests to requesting users, 13) Reporting functionality must be off-loaded to a dedicated reporting device to alleviate any risk of performance degradation of filtering devices, 14) Centralized reporting is necessary in the event of multiple units being implemented, 15) Products must be available on GSA Federal Supply Schedule for procurement, and 16) Section 508 compliant (Americans with Disabilities Act). Interested vendors must be able to provide verifiable proof by submitting information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to meet the Agency?s requirement. Pricing data may be submitted. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of the data received. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, this information will be used in SSA?s assessment of capable sources. Responses to this notice should be submitted via e-mail (Word or acrobat attachment) with 10 days of this publication. No Faxed responses. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged. NO FORMAL SOLICITATION IS BEING ISSUED AT THIS TIME. ELECTRONIC RESPONSES ONLY, to the POC identified above.
