Description
The Program Executive Officer for Integrated Warfare Systems (PEO IWS), Washington Navy Yard, Washington D.C. together with the Chief of Naval Operations (OPNAV N7), Arlington, VA is holding an Industry Day to discuss US Navy Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) challenges. Technical and operational ASW challenges will be discussed. The goal of this kickoff discussion is to begin formulating a joint U.S. Government and Industry way ahead to reinvigorate ASW operational capabilities. It is our intent to solicit Industry (domestic and foreign) for approaches, concepts, and employment approaches that will guide future U. S. Navy formal solicitations on ASW capabilities. A series of workshops on specific topics such as coherent active processing, networked sensor systems, intelligence, and Battlegroup level systems engineering will follow. The details of these workshops will be announced based on the outcome of this Industry Day. The workshop is planned to occur during 1st quarter FY04. Information regarding workshop schedules, content and logistics will be announced via FEDBIZOPPS approximately 30 days in advance of meeting dates. The Industry Day will be held 6 August 2003 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Washington, D.C. as part of the ONR Naval-Industry R&D Partnership Conference 2003. However attendance for this ASW Industry Day session requires separate registration at www.asto-nav.com. Attendance will be limited to three (3) representatives per organization. The security classification for the event will be Unclassified. Background. The US Navy is seeking to dramatically improve ASW capability at the platform and theater level. At this industry day, the US Navy will describe it?s ASW challenges and shortfalls and seek Industry?s participation in formulating an approach by which future proposals will be solicited, reviewed, evaluated and selected.
