- Description
- NASA/KSC plans to issue a Sole-Source Request for Quotation (RFQ) for Inertial Navigation Systems (INS) upgrade to the Computing Applications Software Technologies (CAST) Inc. model 2000-20 Global Positioning System (GPS) Satellite Simulator. NASA/KSC intends to purchase the simulator from CAST Navigation Inc., Billerica, MA in accordance with the statutory authority U.S.C. 2304 (c)(1). This is a sole-source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. As the original source of the basic requirement, CAST Navigation Inc., has been identified as the only known responsible source that can meet the Government's specification. This is a follow-on procurement to the development of a highly specialized system and therefore in the best interest of the Government to sole-source to the original source. The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procurement (SAP). This notice of intent is not a request for quotation (RFQ) for competitive quotes. Interested organizations may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing by mail, fax, or email to Ms Teri Jackson not later than 12 NOON Eastern Daylight Time on Monday, July 21, 2003. Such capabilities/qualifications will be evaluated solely for the purpose of determining whether or not to conduct this procurement on a competitive basis.
