Description

The Midwest Area for the Agricultural Research Service of the United States Department of Agriculture intends to issue an award to C. W. Brabender, 50 East Wesley Street, South Hackensack, NJ 07606. This is a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1 Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. For experimental integrity, the mill must be of this type and design in order to duplicate and reproduce data that has been accumulated for over 50 years. The Soft Wheat Quality Laboratory, Wooster, Ohio requires one (01) Quadrumat Senior Mill, fully automatic laboratory mill for the production of test flours, non standard 230 volt, 60 hz, three phase with the following modifications: Break Head Modifications; Roll #1 (12) corrugation/CM = 31 inch, Roll #2 (14) corrugation/CM = 36.5 inch, Roll #3 corrugation/cm = 41.5 inch STD., Roll #4 corrugation/cm = 41.5 inch STD. Reduction Head Modification: Roll #1, 2 & 3 are without corrugations, outer diameter surface to be roughed by sand, or bead blasting for better grip, roll #4 (26) corrugation/cm = 66 inch. Sifter Modification: Sifter #1 to be covered with 84 (213 microns) s/s mesh, sifter #3, 9 & 12 to be covered with 94 (180 microns) s/s mesh, sifter #5 to be covered with 88 (201 microns) s/s mesh, the remaining 7 of the 13 sifters are to be as standard. No telephone inquiries will be accepted. Interested parties should submit written responses including prices and technical data sufficient to determine capability to meet the entire requirement and must be received in this office within 15 calendar days after publication of this notice. It should be noted that no contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but will be used to determine if a comparable source more advantageous to the Government is available. If no affirmative written responses are received, negotiations will be held with C. W. Brabender without further notice. This acquisition is being conducted under the Federal Acquisition Streamlining Act, Simplified Acquisition Procedures. The anticipated award date is August 8, 2003.
