Description
The US Army TACOM-ARDEC, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ has a requirement for electro- mechanical actuators and drive controllers in support of the Dragon Fire II (DFII) towed automated fire support system based on a rifled 120MM mortar system. Five actuators are required for automation of the following functions 1) Azimuth motion 2) Elevation motion 3) Semi-Auto Loader device (SALD) 4) projectile clamp and 5) Firing Mechanism. Contractor shall demonstrate the ability to deliver affordable, producible and supportable Electro-mechanical actuators and drive controllers. The capabilities sought include analysis, design, development, fabrication, integration, test and evaluation of proposed systems, as well as facilities conducive to assembling subsystem prototype hardware, electronics and /or software. Provide complete system documentation including; operations/maintenance manuals, applicable test reports, drawings showing mechanical interfaces, solid models (in an electronic format compatible with ProEngineer) and electrical/electronics interface drawings delineating all electrical and communications characteristics including connector type and pin outs. All drive controllers shall be powered by a MIL-STD-1275B 28 Volt DC Electrical system primarily operated in battery only condition. The azimuth and elevation actuators and controller combination shall function with the DF II system to position the gun barrel. The actuator drive system consists of a rotary drive for the traversing motion and a linear drive for gun elevation. The Actuator Drive Controller (ADC) shall have the ability to be preprogrammed to avoid any on-weapon obstacles. The actuator drive controller shall interface with a joystick in order to semi-automatically position the gun while in the joystick control operational mode. The Azimuth and Elevations drives also require full manual backup for degrade mode operation. A Firm-Fixed Price contract is contemplated with a twelve (12) month period of performance. The competitive Request for Quotations (RFQ) will be available electronically at the following Internet address: http://procnet.pica.army.mil on or about fifteen (15) days from the date of this announcement. Proposals will be required within thirty (30) days of date of release of the RFQ.
