Description

History of National Forests in California. The USDA Forest Service, Region 5 (California) intends to solicit individuals and others having the ability to write a history of the Forest Service management of National Forests in California from the late 19th century to 1990's. Also included will be the Forest Service role in conservation, and other management activities in the Pacific Islands. The history, which will focus on Forest Service contributions to conservation history, is to be written in a creative, analytical style for education laypersons, and will result in a book-length, image-rich publication. The author(s) shall have specific experience in historical research, working with government records and photographs, and coordinating with a variety of resource staffs and agencies. Anticipated contract time is fifteen months from date of award or December 31, 2004, whichever is earliest. This solicitaiton is unrestricted. The Contracting Officer is Dave Allasia.
