- Description
- The National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, Educational Partnership Program (EPP) with Minority Serving Institutions was established to work collaboratively with academic institutions to increase the number of underrepresented students and graduates in sciences essential to NOAA's mission. This agency intends to financial sponsor the City College of the City University of New York, South Carolina State University, and Florida A&M University to provide training to high school students in NOAA sciences with the goal of participating in national earth science competitions scheduled for April and May 2004. Each university will recruit and train a minimum of ten high school students underrepresented in the NOAA sciences with the goal of participating in statewide, regional and National Ocean Science Bowl (NOSB) competition to be held in Charleston, South Carolina in September 2004. The NOSB is an annual academic competition that tests student's knowledge of the sciences, organized by the Consortium for Oceanographic Research and Education and the National Marine Educators Association.
