Description
This is the second of two planned announcements. The Federal Bureau of Prisons, Field Acquisition Office, located at Kansas City, Kansas intends to issue a solicitation with a requirement to repair/replace the water mains, sewer mains, and storm-sewer mains at a Federal Correctional Institution, located at Littleton, Colorado. This institution is referred to as FCI Englewood. Contract activity will be in a tight working environment with restrictions on construction activities and working hours. The project contains elements of sanitary, domestic water, storm water, and drainage. This correctional institution was originally built approximately 1930 and there have been numerous alterations to the utilities over the years. The project includes construction of utility structures, such as manholes, air valve vaults, blow-offs, and a channel grinder vault. In addition there are many boring requirements, some under knee-wall fences. The magnitude of construction is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. The North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS) code applicable to this acquisition is 237110, with a size standard of $28.5 million, latest three completed fiscal-year average gross-receipts. For reference and search purposes only, the applicable NAICS code (237110) was revised and issued October, 2002. Firms who have not revised their associated NAICS codes to the latest 2002 codes, are advised that the previously related (1997 NAICS) code was 234910. Citing the expired 1997 NAICS code is for informational purposes only. Contract duration will be 435 calendar days from notice to proceed. Bid, performance and payment bonds will be required. Solicitation packages are projected to be available on or after August 20, 2003, with a projected bid due-date of September 21, 2003. This is a 100% small business set-aside. Numbered note 1 applies to this synopsis. Security investigations and subsequent related clearances will be required from the awardee for all staff who perform this contract on the grounds of a federal prison. The solicitation will be distributed solely through the General Services Administration's Federal Business Opportunities website http://www.fedbizopps.gov/. Hard copies of the solicitation will not be available. All future information about this acquisition, including solicitation amendments, will also be distributed solely through this website. Contractors may register on this website to receive e-mail notifications concerning updated or any changed information pertaining to this acquisition.
