Description
The VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA= =20 15206 has a requirement to =93Replace Halon & Sprinkler, Building 13.=94=20 Contractor shall provide all labor, material and supervision to provide a complete wet sprinkler system in Building 13 meeting all applicable NFPA codes, including, but not limited to, 13, 14, and 20. Also provide for the removal of the Halon fire suppression system already in place in accordance with all EPA and VA regulations. Finally, provide a new fire alarm system to accompany the new fire suppression system, to meet all applicable NFPA codes. Contractor shall be a qualified certified sprinkler contractor. This work includes, but is not limited to, installation of a dedicated fire protection tie in to the existing 6=94 water distribution piping outside of B13 and the underground installation of piping, thrust blocks, shut off valves going into the building, and connection to existing wet pipe sprinklers. Completely remove the Halon fire protection system, including but not limited to the EPA approved removal and proper disposal of the Halon 1301 in the system, and the associated piping throughout the building. Amend the existing fire alarm system to include, but not be limited to, the removal of all devices and controls for the Halon system, and the installation of new fire alarm devices required to meet NFPA 72.=20 All work must be done during normal working hours when the building is occupied. Restore the site and building interior to its=92 original condition if damaged by construction and abandoned holes left behind. This includes, but is not limited to, earthwork, sitework concrete, grading, and grass, interior painting, firestopping, and wall patching. Project completion time will be 90 calendar days. The applicable NAICS code is 235110 with the small business size standard of $12.0 million. Solicitation is unrestricted and open to both large and small businesses. The construction cost range for this project is between $100,000 and $250,000. A Pre-Bid Conference is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. in A&MM Conference Room 373E, Third Floor, Bldg. 4 at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. While not mandatory, all bidders are strongly encouraged to attend. Bid opening will be Monday, September 8, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. in A&MM Conference Room 373E, Third Floor, Bldg. 4 at the VA Pittsburgh Healthcare System, 7180 Highland Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15206. All qualified responsive/responsible bidders may submit a bid which shall be considered by the agency if received timely.
